Barry K. Mclean MD, PHD

Dr. Barry McLean is not only an exceptionally qualified physician, but has a PhD to go along with the MD, He is set apart further by his personal approach to healthcare.

He doesn’t simply treat you. He will get to know you first and then apply over 40 years of knowledge and experience - much of which centers around blood pressure and diabetes. He not only understands the science of these conditions but knows them first hand.

The majority of his patients have been coming to see him for more than 10 years, and still some that have been patients for the 35 years he’s been in practice.

The kind of doctor that will not simply ask you what ails you but asks you how the fish are biting and if your tomatoes are growing well this summer.

RUDY VARGAS MD

After all these years, Dr. Vargas and Dr. McLean are together once again. Dr. Vargas was actually an instructor of Dr. McLean’s when he arrived in Birmingham in the late 1970s.

Dr. Vargas is certified in both Internal Medicine and Endocrinology - the kind of care that is difficult to come by these days.

He fits right in at LifeStyle Management with his thorough and personal approach.

When Dr. Vargas is not seeing patients at LifeStyle Management, he is persuing his passion in improving healthcare in his home country of Nicaragua.

Valerie goodwin pa-c

Just before her 4th birthday, Valerie was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Enduring three years of intense chemotherapy, she has been cancer free ever since! So, she knew early on that she wanted to be a healthcare provider.

Valerie’s journey as a healthcare provider began as a nuclear technologist prior to completing PA school in 2017. She joined LifeStyle Management in May 2018 eager to help patients become the best versions of themselves when it comes to health.
